MS Harnesses AI

MS is using AI to support teachers in their daily work and plans to expand that effort. This includes lesson preparation, creating assignments, feedback, and simplifying documentation and information sharing across the school. With APRÓ Lighthouse, MS gains full ownership of its data and the AI solutions developed within it.

Purposeful and secure use

"The goal of this agreement is to ensure purposeful and secure use of AI within the upper secondary school and create a trusted framework around the technology to support learning, teaching development, and daily operations. We want both students and staff to use AI in constructive ways within an encouraging and creative environment. We also believe it's crucial that implementing a comprehensive solution like this ensures all students and staff have equal access to a shared AI platform and reliable tools,"
says Leifur Ingi Vilmundarson, rector of Menntaskólinn við Sund.

A startup fund helped launch the project

Leifur explains that this project with APRÓ began when MS received substantial funding from Rannís' Startup Fund, which supports innovation and development initiatives in early childhood, primary, and secondary education.

"We see an opportunity to take positive steps forward, both to enhance our student experience and teach students how to harness AI and use it responsibly and safely. For example, we've already built an AI agent that helps with developing and creating German language teaching materials. We hope this technology becomes a powerful assistant for our teachers,"
Leifur Ingi adds.

Data protection is top priority
