Peace of Mind with a Burger and Beer - Monitoring and Response

We hosted a fun event with burgers, beer, and complete peace of mind

News

On Thursday, September 11, we hosted an informal event at our U8 office where one of our senior monitors, Þröstur "Spörri" Jónsson, gave a short presentation about APRÓ's Monitoring and Response service.

High stakes

As Spörri explained, monitoring systems can take on quite a dramatic character, since there's a lot at stake for companies in keeping their systems healthy and running smoothly.

A few guiding principles apply whether you monitor your own systems or outsource them to a service provider like APRÓ.

After the presentation, there were questions and discussion, with Spörri and Hlöðver Þór, APRÓ's CEO, on hand to answer. We wrapped up with grilled hamburgers and light refreshments.

With APRÓ's Monitoring and Response service, you get:

  • Better visibility and stronger control of your operations

  • Frees up staff from on-call monitoring

  • Predictable costs and lower risk

  • Reliable service that ensures stability

A few guiding principles for system monitoring

1. Be clear about which processes and systems matter most in your environment.

2. Define the best way to track what's important and where your pain points are. Don't rely on default settings—it may not make sense to trigger an alert if your website takes 15 seconds to respond at night.

 3. Documentation and practice. Decide how to respond to issues, document those responses, and practice them regularly.
