Reiknistofa Pension Fund Implements APRÓ Lighthouse

Reiknistofa lífeyrissjóða (RL) has now implemented APRÓ Lighthouse, an accessible, practical, and secure AI environment customized for Icelandic circumstances and provided as a subscription service. We spoke briefly with staff from RL about the implementation: Margrét Sigurbjörnsdóttir, who manages advisory and service operations, and Lúðvík Guðjónsson, a software specialist.

What prompted you to implement Lighthouse? 

,,At RL, APRÓ introduced us to Lighthouse. The setup resonated with us, and we saw it as a smart choice for us and our clients. We could draw on APRÓ's expertise. We've worked with Miracle and Andes before—now part of APRÓ—and that experience was solid, so we felt confident about this partnership."

Did you consider other options?

,,Yes, we looked at alternatives like Copilot, but we felt we had better control over data security with this approach. All changes come through with our knowledge and on our setup, so there's no way others can use that data—for example, to train models."

What AI knowledge was already in place?

,,We've been building up our team's knowledge of AI tools through training and internal sessions. Data security matters to us, and the approach we get with APRÓ Lighthouse aligns well with our data security requirements."

What possibilities do you see in using Lighthouse?

,,We're already using it for general AI work across the team, and we've been developing with APRÓ on agent capabilities—essentially AI assistants—focused on our clients' contracts, which are mainly pension funds. This assistant has proven useful in our service and consulting work, including support with member inquiries. Next, we're planning to connect the model in APRÓ Lighthouse with development tools so we can use AI to help with coding and testing. Looking ahead, we see many possibilities. For example, offering chat with smart devices in the Jóakim system and on fund member websites."
